So Chef! brings together French know-how with South African produce and celebrates food with a diverse audience!
For its 4th edition, So Chef! is back to show the diversity of French cuisine, bringing French know-how, adding local produce, and to celebrate food with a diverse audience. Four top chefs with french training will travel to South Africa and Lesotho to take part in culinary experiences and create gastronomic masterpieces in seven cities: Cape Town, Durban, East London, Johannesburg, Maseru, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria.
So Chef! - co-organised by the French Institute of South Africa and the Alliance Française network - takes place as part of the National Nutrition Week of the SA Department of Basic Education.
So Chef! offers a varied programme and worthwhile experiences for foodies and people of all ages, with workshops organised in schools and universities, workshops in the Alliance Française network and partnering cooking schools,gastronomic dinnersand public events focused on celebrating French gastronomy!
In 2016, over 1471 people, from 4 to 80 years old, attended 58 different So Chef! events organised in South Africa and Lesotho:
Organised in schools, universities, and cooking schools, these lessons are specially created for pupils and students to discover and rediscover tastes and learn to make easy, simple and balanced dishes in collaboration with international and local chefs.
SoChef! ups the game this year to offer more public events, that anyone can attend! 4 hands Gastronomic dinners, cooking demonstrations and workshops at the local Alliance Française, Eat-Alongs… Check out the programme in each city !
